Purpose
Designed as a destination for canine sports, The K9 Complex pairs purpose-built facilities with thoughtful planning. Our primary goal is a year-round, climate-controlled agility arena complemented by an outdoor ring, a private walking trail, and other sport areas.

Aligned with the growing movement of handler-focused, dog-forward facilities, The K9 Complex prioritizes professional-grade footing and smart design. With Phase 1’s outdoor arena complete, we’re entering Phase 2 to build a membership-based indoor venue where dog sports can thrive locally.
Chautauqua County currently does not have a dedicated dog-sport space, sending handlers far distances, including out of state, for reliable training facilities. Our facility will offer a high-quality, close-to-home solution and drive local impact through events, competitions, and partnerships with trainers, groomers, vendors, and pet-friendly lodging.
Readiness & Momentum
Moving from concept to execution, The K9 Complex is advancing to the second phase of the project after a successful summer with the outdoor agility arena. Building plans are currently being drafted and we are reviewing the site preparation, zoning/code requirements, accessibility, and safety.

Alignment with NY Forward
The K9 Complex advances local entrepreneurship, placemaking, youth engagement, and year-round activity. The project adds an attractive, well-designed destination to Sherman’s economic mix and complements tourism by creating intentional reasons to visit and stay. Several elements of this project are well-suited for the NY Forward funding opportunity
including code-required accessibility upgrades, life-safety systems, and interior build-outs that enhance functionality.

Site & Setting
The property is 9 acres of commercially zoned and undeveloped land within the Village of Sherman. It offers 2.5 acres of level area, 4-5 acres of usable forest for creating trails, access to public utilities, and prominent visibility from I-86—ideal for a destination facility.
